For larger projects the ability to have subModels is important, a subset of entities to work on at any one time , ideally entities may be in one or more subModels

Please take a look at "Subject Areas". Here is a documentation: https://vertabelo.com/documentation/physical-model/areas/

It's slightly different approach than sub models. We're using this on our models (~100 tables) and it works fine.
