How does one create a perspective in a model?

I want to create a perspective in my data model and I don't see an option. Is this what Subject Area does? I cannot find any documentation on how Subject area works or its purpose in your tool. Your documentation is rather sparse on this topic (actually there isn't any I can find and I am just being nice)
