Reverse engineering tool is a command line Java utility. Clicking on it will not work at all. We're working on making it more user friendly, esp. for Windows users. For some reason Java is not a first class citizen on Windows :(.
If you want use this tool, you'll need property configured Java Runtime.
1. Please download and install a JRE from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html.
2. Open Command prompt and call 'java' program. It will should prints a 'usage' info. If not please setup PATH environment variable (google: java windows path)
Now you can follow our instruction: http://www.vertabelo.com/blog/documentation/reverse-engineering
Let us know if it worked for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Hi,
We think about it. Please take a look here:
We're still gathering requirements regarding output format and scope of that export. If you have any ideas please let us know.
Thank you Lukas. I'm going to force this idea instead of "snap to grid" :)
Hi,
Yes, it is possible. There is no association between tables and subject areas in the XML per se. Association is based on position and size of subject areas and tables. Association rule is "rectangle of the table must be inside of rectangle of subject area". Since we do not provide command line tools to examine and validate XML files I think it will be easier to do it in Vertabelo.
